FAQ
What size of unit is required?
Units can vary in size from a small kiosk (300 sq ft) up to larger sites with large seating capacity (around 1000-1500 sq ft).
What is the best location?
The Bagel Nash concept is adaptable and it can work well in all location types such as High Street, Food Courts, Shopping Malls and busy Airports or Stations.
Who finds the units?
The territory / location will be agreed with the potential Franchisee and then it is up to the Franchisee to look and identify suitable units that we will inspect and have will to approve. We also have many contacts that put forward to us potential locations and opportunities that we can offer to new Franchisees.
What is the total investment required?
The investment required will depend on the size, type and condition of the unit. It can vary between £75,000 and £200,000 of which you will need between £25,000- £75,000 of own liquid capital with the balance to be sourced via equipment leasing and a bank loan. The investment will pay for the refurbishing of your store, equipment, advance rental, misc. legal and professional fees etc.
Is my investment safe?
As with any investment, there is always a risk that it will not become successful and you should therefore always seek professional advice before committing yourself to any new venture. We have been operating successful operations for over 20 years and will always do our best to give the best advice and minimise the exposure of the Franchisee as much as possible.
When will I receive a return on my investment?
There is no guarantee of any new venture’ success and any return on your investment will depend on a few factors: the right location, the economy, the competition, as well as how much time and effort you will invest into it and your management skills. Normally, we would expect the ROI to be within two to three years.
What is the profitability of a Bagel Nash unit?
This will vary according to how efficiently the operation is managed and the operating costs. We will assist you with financial information and projections once a unit has been identified.
What Franchise Fees will I be required to pay?
The Initial Franchise fee is £15,000 for the licence to use of the name and the system and this is payable when you sign the Franchise Agreement. This Initial Fee also covers all the operating manuals, training and support that you receive prior and during the opening of the unit. Thereafter, there are ongoing monthly Royalty Fees of 6% to include ongoing support, marketing, product development, training and site audits, plus 2% Marketing Fees which are allocated back into marketing and promotions pot for the brand as a whole.
What support should I expect?
Bagel Nash provides all the support, advice and full training before the opening and ongoing continuous support after the store is open. We are always here to provide guidance and advice as our franchisees success is our success.
Do I purchase all my items from you?
All items need to be purchased through us or through our nominated suppliers with whom we have negotiated special prices so you will be able to benefit from these savings. We also buy some items in bulk direct from manufacturers so that the saving is passed on to the franchisees. Fresh produce is purchased locally.
Can I sell other products?
In order to keep consistency in all Bagel Nash shops and to protect all franchisees, we need to ensure that all our products are the same. We supply all franchisees with some Key Products (either direct or via our nominated suppliers). However, if there are items that you would wish to consider, we are always open to new ideas that in our opinion fit with the concept and operation.
How long is the Franchise Agreement for?
A typical Franchise Agreement is offered for 5 years with a 5 yearly renewal option or until the end of the lease.
Can I sell my Franchise on after a while?
You will be able to market your business for sale at any point after the first two years subject to our terms and conditions. We will have to approve the new proposed Franchisee prior to any sale.
Do you sell your own branches as a Franchise?
We normally do not sell company owned branches, but we are willing to consider any proposals from interested parties to purchase an existing operating unit.
Do I need any previous catering or retail experience?
It is always useful to have prior experience but it is not essential. We need you to have the right personality and attitude and the drive to succeed. Equipped with the right attributes, we will train you and support you with our systems and management tools to help you become a first class operator. You will be invited to visit one of our branches and gain an insight into the operation before committing yourself. You need to know that catering and customer service is a very demanding business that requires full commitment from you and support of your family.
Can I open more than one branch?
We always start with one branch and if we work well together and you prove to be a capable operator we will gladly discuss with you opening more units.
OK, I am very interested... where do I go from here?
In order for us to evaluate you as a potential partner / franchisee, we will need to learn more about you, your skills and business experience. You will be asked to fill in a questionnaire and following the initial assessment and references checks you will be invited for a meeting. A Franchise venture is a partnership and we need to be sure that we can work well together to make your investment a success.
